In this review by LVC RC, we dive into the new Ford F100 monster truck from FMS model, a machine tailored for novice drivers without breaking the bank. This 1/10th scale 2-wheel drive beast boasts a solid 4-channel Fly Sky transmitter, offering standard adjustments and a user-friendly setup. The package includes essential accessories like a 2-3S lipo wall charger, preload clips, decals, and even a light bar for that extra flair. The polycarbonate F100 body, officially licensed by Ford, comes in various styles, including a nostalgic first blood monster truck design.
Underneath the hood, this truck houses a mid-mounted motor for improved stability and response, complemented by oil-filled plastic shocks and a 15 kg servo for precise steering control. The 40 amp 2-in-1 ESC and receiver, also from Fly Sky, power a 14 turn 550 brush motor, delivering enough punch for jumps and wheelies. The truck runs on a 7.4V 3,300 mAh 2S lipo battery, secured by a plastic strap with room for larger capacity batteries. While 3S capability is present, pushing it to the limit voids the warranty, although a cooling fan spot above the motor hints at its potential for more power.
On the tarmac, the Ford F100 hits a respectable top speed of 17 mph with the stock 2S lipo, promising a bit more zest with a 3S upgrade. It may not match the speed demons like the Traxxas Stampede, but it offers ample excitement for beginners, allowing for jumps, donuts, and even the occasional backflip. The soft tires and suspension ensure smooth landings, although sharp turns might lift that inner rear tire, adding a touch of drama to the driving experience. With its durable build and beginner-friendly performance, this FMS Model truck emerges as a solid contender in the world of RC monster trucks.
